Weekend Getaway

We came down from the Bay Area to spend my daughter's 20th bday with her! The house was a little tricky to find on google maps but we called the management company and they were super helpful - download the app for directions! Don't rely on your phone. House is definitely off the beaten track which was fun but it means that there are a few spider webs etc - part of the charm! Beds are very comfortable and clean! Kitchen is well equipped! Be aware that the hot water has a distinct sulphur smell! We brought our two poodle mixes which was a first for us - worked out great!! - Mary W., Fairfax, CA

Secluded Rustic Charm

We had a good stay at Casa PinoStella. It's beautiful and secluded which is exactly what we wanted.

Pros:
• Comfortable beds
• Large home, plenty of room for 2 couples
• Nice big dining room table for us to share breakfasts and dinners
• Location - Secluded feeling, but not a far drive from town and some of our favorite wineries
• The directions to the home from PVR were spot on, and was very helpful to have those

Cons:
• So many bugs! I know this can't really be helped, but we couldn't sit outside because the mosquitos were everywhere
• The road up to the house is very steep. This wasn't a problem for any of us since we had SUVs, but anyone in a small car may find it difficult, especially at night, or if it was raining.
• There was no toaster. I had read this on another review and emailed PVR about it and they assured me there was one. Not a big deal, but would be good to know.
• The beds and linens were all clean, but the windows were filthy as were some of the cups/dishes and windowsills. Their housekeeping could be better

Overall we enjoyed our time here and would definitely stay again and recommend to others. - Julia O., Costa Mesa, CA

September at Casa PinoStella

We had a very nice stay at PinoStella. It was very hot during the days and freezing at night - a 50 degree temperature swing. Very unusual. - Michael M., Los Angeles, CA

Weekend at Casa PinoStella

This is our third stay and we really like this home, but it has several maintenance issues that we previously reported that have not been fixed (leaking toilet, no cold water in upstairs bath, burnt out light bulbs, door to rear yard won't open). It's a lovely spot, but these issues are disappointing - Michael M., Los Angeles, CA

Marise Condon Review

Very nice, enjoyed our stay and would stay again! It would be nice to have a box of tissue in the bathrooms. The toilets are nasty, either replace and put a cleaner in them to prevent the buildup and stains. Great place and enjoyed it. - Marise C., Houston, TX

Remotely fun

I rented the house with three friends for wine tasting. It's close to a number of wineries and a quick drive to Templeton. We loved the place. It's remote and very private. The house has a lot of character. It was clean and well maintained. - Anonymous, San Diego, CA

Secluded getaway in the heart of wine country

Wow, we loved this house! Very secluded and quiet, tons of birdsong and the house has a fantastic layout and vibe to it. Kitchen is fairly well stocked (would be great to have a toaster). Lots of movies to choose from and even more wonderful books! What a great touch.
Perfect for two couples.

TIP: Don't bring a vehicle with low ground clearance. Also, stay to the left as you're following the dirt drive. It ends at the house.

Only drawback: no wireless and spotty cell coverage w/Verizon. We'd love to see wireless installed; then we can come back and stay for a week or more. We'll definitely be back for shorter trips.

Thanks! - Dana N., Boulder Creek, CA

middle of nowhere and almost perfect!

Please note: this home is very out of the way. It's a ways from the highway and town, but even off the dirt road, it's another few minutes until you get up the hill and to the house.

But once you're there, seclusion, seclusion, seclusion. It's quiet and peaceful, plenty of room to stay outside or spread out inside. The common living space was perfect with seating, TV, and the kitchen/dining area all flowing together.

There are a ton of windows that provide natural light & sunrises galore. The kitchen is well-appointed with most everything you will need. Plenty of parking, areas for the kids to play & even deer that walk by the windows in the morning. A gas bbq and outdoor furniture complete the experience.

The road it's on has quite a number of good wineries (try Tooth & Nail for an awesome design) to visit and it's a straight shot to either Templeton or the highway to Paso Robles.

Some notes:
-No wifi and sketchy cell reception.
-Don't follow GPS or maps on your phone. Follow the directions from the company
-If you stay in the downstairs bedroom/bathroom, anyone walking by will be able to see in, so be aware :)

The rental company was excellent in every respect from the questions, reservation, check-out, and assistance post-rental. Very professional & accommodating. - David L., San Ramon, CA

PimoStella in June

We enjoyed our stay at the Casa PinoStella so much that we asked the rental agency if the owners would consider selling it. It is an idyllic retreat secluded in beutiful trees. Wine tasting in Paso areas is delightful (like Napa 25 years ago)and the scenery is beautiful. - Michael M., Los Angeles, CA

Casa PinoStella Weddilng Stay

We loved Casa Pino Stella!! Just a few things would make it totally a 5 star property.
1. toilets were dirty...maybe just stained but pretty bad
2. coffee maker didn't work at least I couldn't figure it out!
3. no toaster
4. invest in new frying pans!! The frying pans had non stick coating that was pretty much gouged and chipped off. It is very unhealthy to cook on pans like these because the coating gets into the food you are cooking.
The good:

Cabin in the woods

If you like the atmosphere of camping at a cabin in the woods then you will love PinoStella, deer outside your window in the morning while making coffee, beautiful kitchen to cook in with updated and good quality appliances. If you have dogs be careful of the ticks in the brush, my dog got one that we had to remove, also they use Decon and other mouse killers so just make sure you pick them up through the house and put away so your dogs do not get a hold of them. Other then that the property was nice, relaxing and impressive. - Anonymous, Palmdale, CA

The Good The Bad

We loved the location of Casa PinoStella and had a great time there this weekend. The only set back, which was a big one, was that the house was advertised with air conditioning and this last weekend was one of the hottest ever and unfortunately the A/C was not working or is too small for that house. When we arrived on Thursday the A/C was running and it was 85 degrees inside and 96 outside, and it never got cool inside and it got hotter outside. We even opened all the windows all night hoping it would cool the house down then closed it up in the morning but that didn't work. It was often cooler outside the house than inside the house, so we couldn't spend as much time in the house as we wanted to.
I think either the A/C unit is too small or broken or the fact that there are no A/C vents on the 2nd floor with a high pitch open ceiling with no insulation is a big problem.

Wine Tasting Weekend

Very cute house in the middle of wine country. Perfect for two couples or a couple friends. We went wine tasting during the day and grilled out at home each night. The house came equipped with everything we needed to cook ourselves. I would recommend this place to friends with the caveat to not go during the heat of summer. The place doesn't have an A/C. It is cool outside at night but opening up everything didn't cool it down. I'd go back because I really liked the place...just not in summer. - Chris W., Los Angeles, CA

Like being in a wonderful tree house.

The only reason I gave the staff four stars and not five was the check in was not clear for this house. The directions were not clear about the property being chained. We were unsure of opening the area as it was a big no tresspassing zone and we did not want to get shot. The staff was not in a hurry to get back to us. otherwise the trip and house was the best, Thanks, Help the next renters by telling them it is okay to take down the barriers....T. Weekend in the country.

We had a fantastic time at Casa PinoStella. The house is in a great location for easy access to go wine tasting, but is very private for coming back home and relaxing with a great view. You feel like you are in the country and there are no other houses in sight. Highly recommened. - William C., Los Angeles, CA

An Enjoyable Retreat

Loved the place, but a few things need fixing, such as vent fan in bath, dishwasher door, a few switches that turn nothing on. Prop.Mgt.Company was great... had a plumbing problem fixed right away and reimbursed us for TV remove control batteries in no time flat! - Anonymous, Maple Valley, WA

Winter weekend getaway

Stayed 2 nights in February with another couple. No problem finding it. It feels much more remote than it really is. Very close to Vineyard Rd and many wineries. I did a lot of cooking and the kitchen was up tp date, well equipped and up to the task. Bed comfortable, plenty of towels. the place has a comfortable "ski vacation house" feel to it, and was a great base for a weekend retreat! - R B., SAN JOSE, CA
