The main house sits at ground level: two bedrooms (a California King and a Queen), a full kitchen, a proper dining room, and a living room warmed by a wood stove, with a satellite TV and Blu-ray player for slow evenings in. The bathroom pairs a deep soaker tub with a separate tile shower. Two porches bracket the house --- one out front for morning coffee, another for watching the light drop behind the hills --- and the whole place is air-conditioned for warm Paso afternoons.
Up its own private staircase, the upstairs suite is a retreat within the retreat. It opens onto a large deck with a private entrance overlooking oak forest and rows of vines, and inside there's a bedroom, a private bath with a hydro-spa tub-and-shower combo, and a kitchenette with a fridge, microwave, toaster, and coffee maker. For day trips, historic Mission San Miguel is about seventeen miles out and Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa roughly twenty-nine; San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport is the closest way in, around thirty-two miles away.
